Water is an inorganic, transparent, tasteless, odorless, and nearly colorless chemical substance made up of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. Water becomes “hard” when it travels through minerals like calcium and magnesium on it’s way to your kitchen sink. The reason water absorbs pretty much everything it comes across is the arrangement of the atoms. For more information on why water is sticky; Sticky Water.
What Kind of salt do I use?
Any type of water softening salt will work. However, H2O to GO uses crystalized solar salt. When seawater evaporates, crystalline solar salt is left behind. Solar salt is highly pure (99.6%), and it dissolves more easily and readily than other types of salt.
How often do I put salt in the water softener?
As long as there is salt visible in the tank, even under water, the system will work. Salt dissolves in water until it creates brine. Brine is what cleans the resin in the softener. For a more detailed description of how a softener works; How it works
